Weapons that can be used on a ship are of two types:

  • Unguided weapons:
  1. Gravity Bombs
  2. Lasers
  3. Mass Accelerators
  • Guided weapons:
  1. Missiles
  2. Turrets

Unguided weapons does not require a target to be selected. They usualy fire in a straight line and hit any target they find (enemy or friendly) within their range. Weapons efficiency depends on the player skill to aim.

Guided weapons requires a target (they cannot be fired if there is no target selected). If something is preventing you to lock your target (the distance, target's low signature or active ECM modules that it uses), the missile launchers or the turrets cannot be used.
